Rulebook

1. Goals and tasks of the League

  • Development and popularization of tennis in Azerbaijan
  • Dividing tennis fans into groups according to strength indicators, eliminating the problem of finding rivals (by providing 4-6 matches in the current month)
  • Increasing the skill level of amateur tennis players
  • Strengthening friendly relations between athletes

2. League conditions

The league consists of amateur tennis players and consists of 5-level groups: 1st league, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, 3C, 3D, 4A, 4B, 4C, 4D, 5A, 5B, 5C, 5D. Each month, the participants must play all their matches against their opponents in the group. At the end of the month, according to the results, the winners of the groups move to the groups above, and the last group moves to the group below.

Recruits usually start in the minor leagues.

Participants can get the phones of group members, match results, tournament schedule and all information about the league on the website liga.tennis.az and through the WhatsApp group. At the beginning of each month, a rating of participants is posted on the site, and a schedule of daily games is posted in the WhatsApp group. Group members receive each other's contact numbers through the site, communicate in personal correspondence and determine the time and place of the games. Games can be played on any courts by agreement of the parties. When one of the players has reserved the venue, he must send a message to the organizer of the league about the time of the match and the courts on which it will be played, and after the game, the winning side must send the match score to the organizer in a private message. The participant missing a scheduled game for a good excuse is counted a technical defeat in this game and is obliged to pay a full rental cost of the court.

3. Scoring and league ranking

The side that wins 2 out of 3 sets (2:0; 2:1) wins the match. When the score in sets is 1:1, by mutual agreement, instead of the 3rd set, a tie-break can be played.

The winner of the match receives a "1" point and the loser receives a "0" point. If one of the participants refuses to come to the game, the victory is given to the other side. If the participants cannot reach an agreement, both parties receive "0" points.

The player with the most points wins the group. If the scores of 2 or more participants are equal, the group rating is calculated as follows:

  1. Matches among themselves
  2. The difference in sets between themselves
  3. The difference in games among themselves
  4. Results with other members of the group (difference in matches and sets, and then games)

4. Fee for participation in the league and awarding the winners

The monthly fee for participation in the league is AZN 20 and the total prize fund is AZN 1,200.

Every month the winner of the 1st League wins the League Cup and receives AZN 300, 2nd place - AZN 200, 3rd place – AZN 100.
